Tracking – manual shipment tracking is very time consuming. It is essentially impractical for all but the most critical shipments. Technology can play a key role in relieving this burden.
 

Recovery – when a problem is identified, recovery actions can be difficult and frequently not optimal.
 

Documentation – transportation is notoriously paperwork intensive. Paperwork must be prepared, then handled, sorted and filed at every step in the process.  With all of this effort, it is frequently hard to find the right piece of paper when it is needed. Is all of this paperwork needed?  Is there a more efficient way to handle what is required?
 

Process – one of the least appreciated yet most important sources of poor productivity is poorly designed processes. These processes may be manual, automated, or more typically a combination of both. A re-tooled process can significantly improve productivity.
